A page from Baby A's Journal

If only he could talk, he'd embarrass us and tell you stories of making everyone jump when the diaper comes off. What they say about baby boys is soooo true. The PeePee TeePee is looking like a smart investment. We've had some dr visits and we are working on gaining weight steadily but not fast enough for Mama.

Just before Aengus came home....

5'1 and an 8 pound baby...whoa.

Now we are all a mess in the morning...

"Aye, it's a Sign," said Margaret

Around our third night in the hospital my sister and I were enjoying the baby when our night nurse came in for a visit. As Julie talked with her I realized Margaret had a subtle accent. I asked her where she was from, and can you believe Scotland? I explained our name choice of Angus and it's very reluctant acceptance by some of our family. She said it was a good traditional name, and making a bit of a comeback, like her own name. When I thanked her and told her that I thought it was fate that she stopped by- she agreed and said "Aye, it's a sign."
Done and done.

We are however going with one of the older Celtic spellings, Aengus.

Little Man Perkins

He's here, and he came in the night just like my dad said he WOULDN'T- I had just fallen asleep when real labor hit. He was a little over 8 pounds and is full of noise and personality. We'll keep you posted- we're all tired- even poor auntie Julie who didn't sleep for two nights with us.
Too tired to write more!

Ornamental.

39.5 Weeks We'll possibly be inducing next week if no news...
made the appt yesterday just in case.

I found this gaudy shirt at a local consignment shop. It was clearance priced with holiday clothing for a whole $4.00. It's a very large size that I think is a perfect holiday maternity tunic! I wore it to work and the kids loved it. Which should tell me to never wear it again, right? I look like a Christmas ornament.

See the antique stained glass that Jeff pried away from me to place in the wall separating two rooms of the house? He says he can get it out again. I don't believe him.

Almost done....
Happy Friday!

Getting ready...

Update: Medical facts not everyone wants to know-
click
here for doctor visit stats. Don't if you don't know anything about what they do at dr visits anyway...

This was our bedroom last year at this time.... Christmas decor was very important...to me anyway. Jeff built this room from the floor up to the ceiling- replacing everything in it and refinishing the floors.
Oh what a difference a year makes....

Now we're just prepping to share a room for a while: Portable Pack and Play via my sister Julie who set it all up and coached us on everything from car seats to swaddling. Really.

Look- diapers and a wipe warmer and more!

And our only little Charlie Brown Christmas tree is in the living room...
Hope you have a bigger tree and are getting ready for something good too.

It's not always a walk in the park, but at least we're still walkin'

39 weeks!

It's cold this week, but the sun shines most of the day.

So during a recent date we took a walk in a park to look at fall colors, chinaberries (I love looking at 'em the hubs does not), and to take a break on the closest park bench since my long walk days are somewhat limited right now. How was your weekend ?

Acorn necklace a gift from Mom- it opens!
Wouldn't it be perfect for a lock of hair?

Jeff isn't riding as much as he'd like to

Because he is swamped with a project... a bathroom remodel. The baby needs his/her own (that's my story and I am sticking to it). He's taken the room down to the bare walls and floor. Here are some progress pics. That's the tub outside being stripped and repainted. The tub is so old it is a chicken foot, which predates the claw. Thanks to my "littlest" brother Greg who helped us drag it out of the house.

Before sheetrock...Jeff ripped out the old stuff to the bare wood

Bathroom in remodel

Vanity Jeff is building because the ones at Lowe's are cheezy (he used a different word)

Thanksgiving with Chicken and Plaid- two of my faves

A strong cold front blew in today, and I am so happy to have occasion to feel (finally) a chill! Hope your Thanksgiving was lovely and full of blessings. Our greatest blessing is my largest feature- easy to spot. We are excited and nervous- but today is about being happy that we have things to make us grateful still yet to come. And not a time to notice that without leggings my wardrobe would be far less comfortable....

Jeff made chicken and various sides which I ate a lot of- but the pie made the biggest hit with the baby bump.

Superflous belly shot- post eating.
Bigger than a turkey and twice as fun, yet another blessing.

Cake and Presents

Some friends threw a surprise baby shower for us on Monday. It was lovely and I was very touched. My favorite part was the cake- both because of the cute little ornamentation and colors, and the icing. Sigh. Cake is my current nemesis.

We still aren't finding out the baby's sex before we meet him/her. But I think it might be a boy. If not the girl should consider soccer. Hope your Wednesday is wonderful.

UPDATE: first time here? Want to know about his name? Click here.

* we don't know the baby's sex, and we don't have a name picked out. I am voting for Angus if it's a boy. Yes, I know it's not your first choice, dad.

Thank you for all of the well wishes~

What I wore for a sonogram...

I did want to be comfy- thus resorting to the comfiest and roomiest of all pants. Leggings. The sonogram went well, I always enjoy them. I never thought I'd be the type to look so forward to this kind of appt- but I am changing a bit every day I guess. And that's not just a reference to my unwieldy bustline, which I am not comfortable with at all.
