One year ago our lives changed forever!

We had a small party, just the three of us (four if you count the dog waiting for the cake to fall the way most of the food does...)
Baby A didn't love the cake first taste, but he came around very quickly.
We counted our blessings all day long. Thank you for stopping by all year to see us, we hope you'll keep watching our sweet little man grow.
Love and hugs,
JAK Perkins

The sweetest roar and cutest pumpkin pie ever

Happy Halloween!
Baby A voted no thanks to the Lion suit after a short while so we wore a pumpkin outfit instead!

That's green frosting in his hair. I did it after we were out of the house so Daddy couldn't object.

Mr. Green Jeans says hiya

We have dealt with two viruses (daycare) and we still have no teeth!
We still love our books, pets, and walks in a stroller.

This is my grandmother NeNe's favorite face.
Mama found me a vintage outfit that I can barely squeeze into.
I am still in the room. Hey! Can you guys hear me or what?

Still reading books.

Hope you are well and we send kisses. Big, sloppy, wet ones.

Of Pirates and stripes

We are soooo sorry for the slow posting of late on our blog. We started school (both mama and baby A) and it is a lot of work getting us out the door on time each day. Heck, it was a lot of work when it was just one of us getting to work on time, with two of us it's a real struggle. We have some great pics to post soon with more details about school. But for now, here's this week's update. On Monday we were 9 months old!
I don't know if you were able to celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day , but I wish everyone could have. After all, it's a great day to break out 'do rags, stripes, and jeans with lots of holes in the knee. Mama encouraged the school to participate so she wouldn't look goofy alone.  Happy belated Pirate Day to landlubbers and Pirates alike.

Cute stripes and some kisses

I have two obsessions this month, trying to win this fabulous high chair and wearing stripes with baby A. Both make my day.

I love a good striped shirt, and Laura at Stripedshirt.com out of Austin has the best! These shirts are the cutest, softest way to show your fave colors- especially your team colors, or to match your favorite little man in the world!

Check out the great color options at stripedshirt.com!

Cookies are good, and we are really interested in eating some

Aren't cookies magical? So simple, but it's like you're throwing a party when you throw them in the oven. We went to visit Baby A's cousins and Auntie. Cookies ensued, and though our little muffin can't have any yet, I ate one for him. I am a selfless example of motherhood, no? Happy weekend, sit on the porch a bit if you can...

Adventures in eating real food. Sorta.

We are eating real food now! If by real food you mean cereal mixed with milk and baby food. And if by eating you mean wearing, blowing, and rubbing in your hair. We went to the doctor last week for 6 month shots. We all go as a family so when Mama and Aengy cry at the shots Daddy can be in charge. Our little man is almost twenty pounds! And the doctor scolded us a bit on not trying food more before now, Baby A and mama are happy with milk. As the scale suggested...
We have now tried barley cereal, sweet potatoes, carrots, and squash. The sweet potatoes are the biggest hit by far.

We are on twitter now! Hey, if Rick Perry can do it we can, too.
We promise not to tweet any diaper emergencies, unless they are really entertaining. You can follow us
here!

Happy Father's Day, and new shoes

Happy Father's Day to all of the wonderful fathers and grandfathers in our lives.
You are loved.

"A truly rich man is one whose children run into his arms when his hands are empty." -- Unknown
When a father gives to his son, both laugh; when a son gives to his father, both cry.

“If the new American father feels bewildered and even defeated, let him take comfort from the fact that whatever he does in any fathering situation has a fifty percent chance of being right.”
-Bill Cosby

It's hard work being a cute little man

It's hard being me, all those demands!
The interrupted moments in the bath...

Mama insists on combing and parting my hair. Even when I am just trying to eat my book in peace.
She even tries to wake me up with that silly camera. (I don't know bad words or I'd call it one).
I can't even snuggle Pooh without her chasing me. Did you notice she made me look like Pooh in this picture? Sigh.
At least my Nanaw Nene helps me take a nap when I need it. Not that I like naps you know.

And Daddy always gives me a hug when I am feeling tired and grumpy (every evening at 8:45).
